Sleipnir Odin's Horse Viking Necklace
Sleipnir (“The Sliding One”) is the eight-legged horse of the god Odin.
Sleipnir was born when the god Loki shape-shifted into a mare and became pregnant by the stallion of a giant, as is recounted in the tale of The Fortification of Asgard. It was the best horse among gods and men, so Loki gifted him to Odin.
Sleipnir is not only fast, but it can also gallop by air and on the sea, as the Skáldskaparmál says. According to a late tradition, he has the ability to travel to the other world. We can therefore conclude that Sleipnir is the God of Horses and Travel.
This beautiful keyring features a Celtic-style horse Sleipnir, complete with a wild flowing mane. One side of the pendant is three-dimensional and the other is flat with incised detail.
