The round shield was a staple of warfare throughout human history. From the very earliest shields discovered right up to the Renaissance, the maneuverability and utility of the round shield as a battlefield weapon have made it so.

Few round shields however are as iconic as those used by the Nordic peoples of Scandinavia. Wielded by the fearsome Vikings, these shields were used to deadly effect, and remain a symbol of Norse culture, heritage, and valor.

This Viking Round Shield was designed with practicality and durability in mind. With the strength of modern high-quality plywoods, they are built to perform. They feature tough 14 gauge steel shield bosses (exact shape and finish may vary) and measure 1/2 inches thick. Each shield is 25" in diameter and weighs approximately 5 lbs.

The edge of the shield is also protected with very durable rawhide, sewn to the planks with waxed thread. This is the type of shield that most Vikings used to wear. Its simplicity also allows you to customize it yourself.
